IHF.OR.ID, DEPOK — The Indonesia Heritage Foundation (IHF) once again held the kick off event for PHBK Akbar Program (PPA) 5 on Thursday, November 14, 2024 which will run intensively for the next six months. This program was attended by 68 Coordinator Schools (SK) and 909 Partner Schools (SM) from 43 districts/cities spread across 14 provinces.
The kick off event of PPA 5 was carried out in a hybrid manner. The offline event took place at Harmonie Training Center (HTC) Building, IHF, presenting SK and SM from Depok City, which was also attended by the Founder of Ratna Megawangi, and the Executive Director of IHF, Rahma Dewi. The online event was broadcast live via the Zoom and YouTube platforms and was also attended by Sofyan A. Djalil as the IHF Advisory Board. Invited guests from the education office and the ministry of religion office in each district/city also attended this event online.
Sofyan A. Djalil said, in his opening speech, IHF wants to train all PAUD teachers in Indonesia to become an idol teachers, who teach in a fun way and will always be remembered forever. According to him, this PPA training is one way for teachers to be able to become idol teachers and be able to change children to be more characterful.
Ratna Megawangi said that the PPA program was inspired by a same program in Shanghai. There, good schools were selected to foster schools around them to become quality schools. She hopes that this program can help government’s program in improving the quality of human resources for teachers. She added that by joining the PPA, PAUD teachers can contribute to Indonesia so that the Indonesia nation can have more character.

The Character Schools, located in Cimanggis and Gunung Putri (Bogor), are schools for the upper middle class. However, around the Character School, there is the Semai Benih Bangsa (SBB) school which also applies the PHBK model with the same communication and teaching methods. So far, only a few schools can be directly mentored by IHF.
The PHBK model is a model formulated by Ratna Megawangi and her team so that sophisticated knowledge from various journals and research, both domestic and foreign, can be applied in class with integrated activities from the beginning until the end. So that, children will be accustomed to thinking holistically (big picture).
IHF has been experienced in implementing the PPA program since 2021 and has graduated 3,754 new SMs. In this 5th PPA, there are 25 new SKs joining. Some of these new SKs were previously SMs who had consistently implemented PHBK in schools. They graduated as new SKs after going through an interview selection process and teaching practice.
